Ustica island, besides its biodiversity and geological structure, offers another attractive feature: inhabited, ravaged or used as shelter during the past centuries, it has collected remains of different ages, on land and underwater, providing interesting revelations of the past.

In the 90s the first underwater archaeological itinerary was set, with the remains found in situ. A second itinerary was set in 2006, offering an alternative site in case of bad sea conditions and for different level of divers.
The remains are all anchors of different periods, stone or metal. They are marked by a description label (in Italian and English) and placed along a circuit where the remains are the pit stops. The tour needs an introductory briefing by an experienced guide in order to enjoy the plunge into the past at its best.
